Job Description
General
The President/CEO serves at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority; and serves as Executive Director of the Bleckley-Cochran Industrial Development Authority.
 
Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority
Will be responsible for the management and supervision of staff, strategic planning, and budgeting.  In this capacity the President/CEO will:

· Prepare budgets, oversee funds, and provide regular financial reports as directed by the Boards.
· Develop, with the Chamber Board, a prioritized written plan of work based on the issues facing the Chamber and establish a time schedule for completing each item.
· Supervise personnel and coordinate office matters necessary for successful economic development, member services, and tourism activities.
· Recommend and identify action items to the board and officers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority as needed.
· Prepare monthly Board agendas and reports.
· Update and communicate with Chamber Board members on a timely basis concerning Chamber business.
 
Tourism
Will work to ensure the growth and expansion of the tourism and hospitality industry in Cochran and Bleckley County.  In this capacity the President/CEO will:

· Promote expansion of the county’s tourism industry.
· Assist in the planning and coordination of Chamber-sponsored events.
· Ensure implementation of approved Tourism Budget-Plan of Work.
 
Member Services
Will assist members with promotional events and shall collect and provide economic data, and other information as needed by local businesses and other interested parties to expand employment, the local economy, and the business members’ profitability.  In this capacity the President/CEO will:
  •  Plan and coordinate events to assist members in their business strategies, current trends, employment matters, and other relevant subjects conducive to growth and success.
  •  Visit members at their place of business to stay abreast of member concerns and to offer Chamber assistance.  
  • Increase membership and participation in the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority and its events and programs.
  •  Lead and motivate Board members, officers, and other volunteers on Chamber functions.
  •  Coordinate committee schedules, plan activities, and provide leadership necessary for successful projects.
 
Public Relations
Will serve as the initial contact for the Chamber with newcomers to Cochran and Bleckley County. In this capacity the President/CEO will:   
  •  Present a positive image of the community to newcomers and prospects. 
  •  Interact and cooperate with local officials in a positive manner.
  •  Be accessible to the public and visible to the community through community affairs and activities. 
  •  Maintain awareness of community attitudes, trends and needs.
 
Economic Development
The Executive Director will work to promote the economic growth in all of Cochran and Bleckley County.   In this capacity the Executive Director will:
  •  Be the public representative of the Bleckley-Cochran Industrial Development Authority.
  •  Attend all meetings and formal activities of the BCIDA.
  •  Tend to all business matters inherent to the BCIDA.
  •  Prepare budgets, oversee funds and provide regular financial reports as directed by the Development Authority Board.
  •  Manage BCIDA properties and market its properties to prospects.
  •  Assist BCIDA in planning and executing BCIDA projects to accomplish economic growth and development goals.   
  •  Develop with the BCIDA a prioritized written plan of work based on the issues facing the BCIDA and establish a time schedule for completing each item.
  •  Report progress towards the BCIDA prioritized plan of work and update board members as needed.
  •  Interact and cooperate with businesses, government officers, and agencies to encourage new business activity and the expansion of existing businesses.
  •  Actively pursue and coordinate industrial and commercial prospects.
  •  Maintain ongoing contact with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Power, Ocmulgee EMC, ComSouth Powered by Hargray, AT&T, Georgia Economic Developers Association, and other agencies to promote Cochran and Bleckley County as a viable and attractive location for new industry.
  •  Maintain updated economic information needed in recruiting new businesses and for the expansion of existing businesses in the county.
  •  Maintain updated information on BCIDA properties needed by economic development agencies to generate and enhance prospect activity.

  •  Travel on a regular basis to Atlanta and/or other locations to establish partnerships for the Industrial Development Authority.
 
Evaluation
The President/CEO / Executive Director will undergo an annual evaluation process supervised by the Executive Boards of the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority. 

Salary: 40,000 - 60,000 annually
